Shahab Aftahi MD
Dr. Aftahi received his medical degree from in 1984, at which point he moved to New Jersey, where he completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Bergen County Hospital, followed by his fellowship in Gastroenterology and Nutrition at the . Dr. Aftahi served as a faculty member at Albany Medical College for several years after completing his fellowship. He founded Estrella Gastroenterology in 1999 and has been serving the people of the Valley ever since.
Dr. Aftahi is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He is a member of the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the Phoenix Society of Gastroenterology and the Maricopa County Medical Society.
Dr. Aftahi is well-versed in all standard endoscopic procedures and has a special interest in nutrition and Inflammatory Bowel Disease.

Dr. Pinillos moved out West after his fellowship and joined Estrella Gastroenterology in 2004. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the Arizona Latin-American Medical Association, and the Phoenix Society of Gastroenterology.
In addition to the standard endoscopic procedures, Dr. Pinillos's professional interests include capsule endoscopy, functional bowel disease, and liver disease.
