Physician Credentials

The American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) recommends that endoscopy be performed by physicians who have completed formal training in endoscopy and who have completed a residency or fellowship in gastroenterology, colorectal surgery, general surgery or pediatric surgery (ASGE Policy and Procedure Manual; Feb 2002).

Board certification, means that doctors have completed the amount of training that a specialty board requires. These physicians have practiced for a specified period of time and passed rigorous written and oral exams. Board certification is generally accepted as a strong indicator of a physician's competence and experience.

All Estrella Gastroenterology physicians are board certified and completed successfully formal endoscopy training.
